Open House at Companion Animal Hospital

A couple of months ago I took Dr. Marcia Izo's picture with her two Golden Retrievers, Katie and Sally. Dr. Izo is a vet at Companion Animal Hospital in Traverse City, MI. A few weeks ago they called to ask if I would participate in their Open House that was held this past Saturday. I of course jumped at the chance to meet other animal lovers and introduce them to my pet photography. One of my great loves.

The open house was a great opportunity for current clients and new clients alike to come and meet the doctors and staff as well as tour their state of the art facility. There were snacks, and LOTS of give aways. I gave away a Pet Portrait session.

I have been taking my animals there for years and have always been blown away by the care and attention they get. Dr. Izo has helped our family through losing two elderly dogs and the staff was caring and positive in a very difficult situation. I know that Roxy and Velma are very loved by the staff and Drs. there. If you don't currently have a regular vet or just want to know that your animals are getting outstanding care by a loving, compassionate and knowledgeable staff please call or visit them today.

Habitat for Humanity Home & Garden Show

I attended this great event last night at the Civic Centers Howe Arena in Traverse City. I had a great time meeting all kinds of different vendors with great ideas for your home. Come out and visit this wonderful event this weekend. You can even buy a brick to help build a home for a needy family.

There is a raffle, scavanger hunt for the kids and lots more!

Buy some fresh cut flowers to take home. Add a beautiful touch to your house for spring!

A Dogs Life

Good morning! As most of you probably know, I am an avid dog lover. Actually I love all animals but dogs have a special place in my heart. Because of that I have partnered with AC PAW animal rescue to create a calendar to raise money for their organization. I am photography rescued pets to star in this calendar and last night I had the most fun taking pictures of these cute little guys.

This is Yukon. He is a 7 month old Huskie mix that is just the sweetest, most gentle pup. He is currently available for adoption. If you are interested in him please contact his foster mom, Lori McFarlan at 631-1248.

He has one blue eye and one brown. You can just tell he has a beautiful soul. So beautiful!

Benson is a Pug who has been adopted but is so cute and spunky. Their fun loving energy just makes you smile.

And this is Benson with his brother Puck. Two peas in a pod.

Tiny Toes - Hank & Emma

These little cuties were in the studio recently for their 3 month session. A few months ago I met their mommy and daddy and did a maternity session. I was so excited when Mindy called to schedule their baby session with me. I couldn't wait to meet them.

Sweet babies!

I have the best job in the world! Pet sessions are one of my most favorite things to do. I am a serious dog lover so when I have the opportunity to take photos of someones "babies" I jump at the chance.

Below are images from Izzy and Abby Park's session. They were cute and curious and very well behaved. They did a great job and their images prove it. Izzy in her tutu is just too cute!

Brooke & Ted are Engaged!

Brooke and Ted came to my studio this weekend for their engagement session and we laughed for two hours! This couple clearly enjoys having fun together. Immediately, when they walked in I knew we were going to have a great time and create some amazing images.

Not only was it fun to shoot their session it really gave me an opportunity to get to know them and see how they interact as a couple. Ted is such a romantic. Just the way he looks at Brooke melts my heart. It is so clear that they are truely meant to be together. They laughed and smiled the entire session. When we went outside in the snow for a few shots they just held each other to stay warm and enjoyed the beauty of the day. Then, the snow ball fight started. Of course I kept shooting and caught some great images of them battling it out. By the end of the shoot our pants were wet, our noses cold and our faces hurt from laughing and smiling.

Cara & Brian are Married!

Brian and Cara were married at The Homestead Resort in Glen Arbor at the top of the mountain. It was a gorgeous day, perfect for a wedding. As Cara's mom stated it was if Cara ordered it herself.

Glen Arbor was the perfect spot to document this memorable event as Brian's family has enjoyed vacationing in the Glen Arbor area for many years. Cara fell in love with the northern town when Brian took her there to propose. And the Homestead did not disappoint...it was beautiful and everyone enjoyed themselves immensley.

The day was full of suprises for the newlyweds from friends and family. Many laughs and tears were shared. As Cara thanked everyone for their participation in her perfect day I couldn't help but get a little tear in my eye and lump in my throat. It was clear these two were destined to be together. Her words were geniune and heart felt.

The fun lasted into the evening with Ryan Schrock of Best in Class DJs spinning the hits. He kept the dance floor full and the fun going into the night. We couldn't help but shake our groove thangs while capturing the fun and excitement on the dance floor.

Our best goes out to these two love birds and I hope to see them again soon in our area vacationing! Cheers to you!

Kathy & Don are engaged!

We met on a gorgeous evening at their new home in Bellaire. We started there so we could include their sweet dog Chiro in the pictures. He was such a good boy! I love, love, love dogs! We were fast friends. We then strolled the streets of Bellaire which is such a quaint little town. We walked around for a few minutes and then headed to the lake (Torch) and settled into a cute spot right on the beach and also hit the pier. The sun was setting and the cool air made snuggling for these two a snap! We had a lot of fun. I can't wait for their wedding next month!

Lauren & Noah are married!

The day started off a little iffy with the weather but the day of Lauren & Noah's wedding was nothing short of perfect. The sky cleared and gorgeous sun graced the day. Castle Farms in Charleviox, MI was the setting for their big day. If you have never been it is a gorgeous setting with un-matched character.

Relaxed and posed, Lauren was a gorgeous bride. Every detail just perfect for the day...right down to her signature wedding day scent. Noah, confident and charming waited patiently with his groomsmen in the garden. As the ceremony began it was obvious how much emotion and connection there is between these two. They read their vows to each other as I cried behind the lens. They were beautiful and moving. It made me wish my honey was waiting around for me to smooch on.

The rest of the evening was filled with good food, laughter and connecting with friends and family. Truely an amazing day!

Cara & Brian are engaged!

Cara and Brian came to see me last weekend for their engagement session. We had a great time getting to know each other and sharing a few laughs. We did most of their session inside since it was only about 30 degrees that day. We had beautiful sun but it was very chilly. At the end of their session we did manage to squeeze in a couple of outside shots really quick before any of our limbs froze.

Thanks you guys it was fun! I can't wait to shoot your wedding in June.

Bridal Expo at the Grand Traverse Resort

We attended the bridal Expo at the Grand Traverse Resort this past Sunday and met a lot of great people. I had a blonde moment that day apparently because I completely forgot to take a picture of our booth for you to see. Duh! I had my camera out and everything! Here is a picture from our booth from the Castle Farms show last October...it looked very similar to this....just with our new colors. No more blue.

One thing I realized when talking to brides is people are waiting too long to book their photographer. We were asked all day about dates available for this summer. Unfortunately, we have been booked for a lot of our summer dates since fall of last year. I don't know if it is the economy or just procrastinating but ladies and gents book early! We have run into this the last couple of years. I wish I could clone Lizz and I but I can't.

We still have dates available for this summer...Especially if you are planning a Friday or Sunday wedding. These dates are growing in popularity and we even offer a 10% discount for booking these days. Call us for details!

Noah and Lauren came to the studio last Saturday in a wintery storm for their engagement session. After making it here from downstate we had a blast shooting their engagement images.
